Gene Leahy Pedestrian Mall
Located in the Old Market neighborhood of Omaha, this 10-acre park combines modern and historic architecture with stunning gardens and walking paths. There are waterfalls, a children’s playground, and sculpture garden to explore. The Gene Leahy Pedestrian Mall connects to the Heartland of America Park, known for its water jet fountain and light show.
Joslyn Art Museum
Beat the summer heat by stepping into Omaha’s Joslyn Art Museum. Open year-round, the Joslyn is home to a variety of artwork from Europe, North America, and even unique pieces from the American West. During the summer, be sure to enjoy the outdoor garden galleries and the Discovery Garden designed just for kids. General admission to the museum is free, but special exhibits may have a charge.
Sand in the City
Held in June at Baxter Arena, Sand in the City is a family-friendly event where teams of talented sand sculptors come together to create unforgettable sculptures. This free-admission event has live entertainment, an interactive Kid Zone, and hours of fun for the whole family. All donations benefit the Nebraska Children’s Home Society.
