7th Annual Food & Wine Festival: August 25th
Formerly the “Pearland Annual Wine & Food Festival,” this event is moving to “The Esplanade” on Navigation Boulevard in order to cultivate a truer city-wide celebration of diversity and culture. Texas’ favorite boutique wineries (14 of them!) will pour tastings and regional chefs will whip up delicious bites. Live music & over 60 fantastic crafts vendors round out the festival’s entertainment. This event is the perfect spot to drink, snack, shop, and hangout.
Houston BBQ Throwdown: September 16th
The Houston BBQ Festival & Saint Arnold Brewing Company are hosting the 4th annual Houston BBQ Throwdown in September. This year, 14 local BBQ joints are competing to create the next great BBQ dish that best represents “Houston Style BBQ.” Last year’s co-winners will be participating again…but maybe this year Houston will crown a new winner? Every ticket includes samples from each entry, as well as beer samples from Saint Arnold’s. BBQ experts will blind taste test and pick a single winner (don’t worry, there is also a “People’s Choice” vote!)
Oktoberfest: September 29th
Billed as “A Beer Fest With a German Twist,” Houston’s Oktoberfest is sure to be a good time! While you sip your suds, chow down on some of the best food Houston has to offer. If you’re feeling competitive, sign up for the 7th Annual Oktoberfest Olympiad. Games include Barrell Roll, the Stein Race, Stein Hoisting, and the “legendary” Brat Toss. Maybe you can yodel? Fortunately for you, there’s even a contest for that.
Houston Margarita Festival: October 6th
Since its first year, Houston’s Margarita Festival has supported over 30 nonprofit organizations in the Houston area; this year’s will benefit the Twi-Light Twelve Foundation Scholarship Fund. Now in its 7th year, the marg fest is returning to Water Works Park just outside of downtown. The park will be transformed into a “margarita wonderland,” offering attendees a variety of imaginative flavors (think pumpkin spice, peach mango, green apple…even chocolate!) Live bands, salsa dancing, food, tequila – complete with views of Houston’s iconic skyline. What better way to spend a Saturday?
