Howdy Folks! The State Fair of Texas is almost here and we can already smell the fair food looming in the air. We’ve rounded up the most important tidbits for you to learn before you slip on your boots and head out the door for some Texas-sized fun.

The State Fair of Texas 2018
When: September 28 – October 21, 2018
Hours of Operation: Friday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sundays – Thursdays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. State Fair of Texas Midway and Fair Park Museum hours vary.
Theme: “Celebrating Texas Innovation”
-General Admission: $18
-Kids under 48″ tall: $14
-Seniors 60 and over: $14
-Children 2 and under: Free
-Seniors 60 and over: Free every Thursday (Oct. 4, Oct. 11, and Oct. 18)
Parking: $15 for self-parking.
Daily Activities Include: Starlight Parade at 7 p.m. and the Illumination Sensation lights and fireworks show at 8 p.m.
What’s New this Year:

Food: Classics include Corny Dogs and turkey legs, but that’s only a sliver of what you can expect to be served at the Fair this year. Texans take pride in their food, so you will be inundated with delicious options everywhere you look.
If you like anything and everything deep fried, then you won’t want to miss the Big Tex Choice Awards. On the menu this year: Fried ranch.
