Magnolia St. Louis Caters to 21st Century's Savvy Traveler

ST. LOUIS – Summer 2014 – Originally opened back in 1925, The Mayfair Hotel has always remained ahead of the curve in travel trends and industry standards. Throughout the decades it has hosted guests who are nothing short of American royalty. It has changed hands and persevered, and now in the last stretch before its 100th anniversary, the Mayfair has reinvented itself. Under the ownership and direction of Stout Street Hospitality, the historic property moves forward as the Magnolia St. Louis, a boutique property designed to meet the needs and desires of today's traveler.

The hotel will reopen in July 2014 after a six-month, multi-million-dollar renovation. It preserved the property's historic character and features, while integrating boutique elements and design. The Mayfair, in its heyday, welcomed the likes of Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant, Irving Berlin, and John Barrymore, as well as Presidents Harry S. Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson. This era of glamour and majesty was an inspiration behind the look and feel of today's Magnolia.

Having been named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, the hotel remains modern and elegant with contemporary amenities and extreme attention to detail. Stout Street Hospitality, the company behind the Magnolia brand, has spent decades perfecting the boutique experience, a feat that today's larger resorts are now striving to incorporate.

Situated in the heart of downtown St. Louis, the 182-room Magnolia is within walking distance of numerous attractions. A true boutique property, amenities are all about detail and were put in place to make every guest feel important. They include complimentary breakfast, evening reception, cookies and milk, and downtown town car transportation, as well as the customary chocolate on the pillow – a tradition inspired and essentially established by Grant, who while a guest of the Mayfair, left a trail of chocolates leading his paramour to his suite.

Other firsts for the property included a rooftop swimming pool ands female general manager of a property in St. Louis. It was also among the very first properties to develop and offer overnight packages.

Magnolia Hotel St. Louis is managed by Stout Street Hospitality, a privately held hotel management and development company, which operates upscale boutique hotels catering to the sophisticated traveler. The Denver-based company focuses on development, management, acquisition, re-branding, new construction, and conversion of existing independent hotel properties. The core product line consists of award-winning, independent boutique hotels under the Magnolia brand that offer a style unlike that of trendy or branded hotels. The company currently operates Magnolia hotels in Denver, Dallas, Houston,; Omaha, Neb.; St. Louis; and manages an upscale Holiday Inn in Dallas, and a ski resort, The Winter Park Grand Lodge in Winter Park, Colo.
