Magnolia Hotels Secures Management Contract on Historic LaSalle Hotel in Bryan/College Station, Texas
LaSalle Becomes Third Texas Hotel Operated by Magnolia Hotels
August 13, 2009 (Denver, Colo.) –Magnolia Hotels, a Denver-based hotel management and development company, today announced it has received the management contract to operate the historic LaSalle Hotel in Bryan, Tex., nearby College Station and Texas A&M University. The LaSalle will join Magnolia Hotels’ properties in Houston and Dallas, in addition to Magnolia hotels in Denver, Colo. and Omaha, Neb. The Bryan Commerce and Development, a non profit entity of the City of Bryan, board members approved the management contract on Aug. 11, 2009 for Magnolia Hotels to manage the property.
“We are thrilled to have the management contract on a full-service hotel in the terrific town of Bryan/College Station,” said Leigh Hitz, President of Magnolia Hotels. “The LaSalle Hotel is a historic boutique property, aligning perfectly with the other Magnolia hotels in Denver, Dallas, Houston and Omaha.”
“We are looking forward to a very successful partnership with Magnolia Hotels for the management of one of Bryan’s outstanding assets, the historic LaSalle Hotel in downtown Bryan. The Magnolia Hotel group currently manages other historic properties in Houston, Dallas, Denver and Omaha with great success. We are excited about the possibilities of adding more opportunities for business groups, sports groups, citizens and visitors to tap into this wonderful resource in Historic Downtown Bryan” said Joey Dunn, Deputy City Manager, Bryan, Texas.
The LaSalle Hotel, 120 S. Main Street in Bryan, Tex., is a 55-room property that will be operated as The LaSalle Hotel by Magnolia Hotels. Built in 1928, the hotel is a registered historic landmark. The limestone and marble building is in the heart of downtown Bryan, close to businesses, shops and restaurants. There are two meeting rooms available for business meetings and events; the Grand Room accommodating up to 70, and the Brazos room accommodating up to 45. The property is full of charm, with many antiques decorating the lobby and guestrooms, black and white tile floors in the guestroom baths and claw-foot bathtubs in many of the rooms. Marble floors in the lobby and original woodwork reflect the craftsmanship of the early 20th century.
Magnolia Hotels plans to update the hotel’s bedding and décor, in addition to expanding the restaurant by offering patio seating and a bar area. Additionally, Magnolia Hotels plans on replacing all guestroom televisions with flat-screen televisions.
Amenities which Magnolia hotels are known for, including complimentary breakfast, evening beer and wine reception, and signature bedtime cookie buffet also will be offered at The LaSalle Hotel. The hotel is close to businesses and attractions such as the Brazos County Court House, Scott & White Health System, the George Bush Presidential Library and Texas A&M University.
“We look forward to bringing the high level of service and style provided by Magnolia Hotels to the city of Bryan and College Station,” adds Hitz. “The hotel is full of character and is the only historic boutique property in the College Station area. We are anxious to welcome business travelers, parents of college students, tour groups, Texas A&M visiting faculty and alumni, and more to the Magnolia family.”
